Marriage --A Preface

"Elliruve Manava kaaduva roopasiye... bayakeya balliya..." wow! Its good to write after long time by pulling out all the stops. Am peppy to write especially on this topic. No! No! I haven’t got any one nor am going to find one in near time or until I get my dream list up to scratch. I'm not yet prepared, so I’m just trying to stitch the words, which are running in me. Regarding this I just let my hair down, even in the recession time:) and result of it is this post.

As I know this is always been a hot topic in our discussion. Someone used to share the bride's expectation of marrying for what he can buy for her and not for what he is:( and pulling each others legs assuming them in grooms place:). Remembering all this, while browsing I saw a matrimonial ad, which stated something like this "Marry well settled (What they meant here?) Gals in Karnataka, TamilNadu, Kerala..." For curiosity I entered the site after confirming that no body is watching me and scanned few profiles posted by grooms.
Huff! They had a list of requirements like she should be caring, lovable, true hearted, honest, good family (will anyone announce themselves as they are from bad family!) blah blah... Then I saw few bride profiles, it was no different. He should be working in MNC, expected CTC, government job, good character, well settled (I thought, I can call myself well settled after marriage:( ), good family etc.,
I thought, Ipso facto some of these profiles were created without being myopic. Their English and bride’s expectations amused me. I was a Dutchman!

I started asking myself how will I define these words like caring, lovable, honest, good hearted.... Hmm! My mind stood like bump on a log to define. I gave up defining these terms because marriage is like taking a chance and then both going through all vicissitudes. I started thinking what will be my small requests for her, keeping in mind changes I have to undergo in my lifestyle.

Wow! I was Gung-ho about the power of imagination. OK I just like to shoot from the hip word for word from my mind. Here it goes... She should not wake me early on weekends, she should not change channel when am watching NDTV profit, except if her serial is REALLY progressing, she should give company when I got struck in traffic jams, she should support my music (OK my roommates now please stop laughing at this), she should not find out grammatical mistakes in my blog, she should not rake over the coals for forgetting her special days (birthdays/anniversary...), she should not disturb while watching Girish Kasarvalli movies, she should not turn on waterworks often, she should not put on strike when am late from office(I try not to make it habit), ahh! At least she should listen my poems if not encourage me. OK OK enough let me put a sock in it and keep the remaining sweet nothings for future.

After this small big list my mind struck with question, what U are giving? Again my mind stood like bump on a log, but I can promise I will be up to scratch for your expectations and I don’t want to cotton up to now. OK in short here it is in my own poetic way....

He he your experiences are always welcome....

Hi Harsha,
I enjoyed your innocence in the "Marriage" blog and would pray god that you get a life partner exactly the way u have imagined in the text. :-)
